DIY Revealed!

I have been in need of a dining room set, but I didn't feel like dropping hundreds of dollars at my favorite furniture store. Enter Craigslist. I found this set for $60, but it needed work.

The new set I originally wanted was black and distressed. I thought I could accomplish a similar look myself. (With G's help of course!) :)

After we picked up the set from the original owner, we washed and lightly sanded it. Next, we painted the set with a few coats of high-gloss black paint. To help create the "distressed look" we did not use a primer and allowed the brush strokes to leave some wood showing in places.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out!

Happy Friday! G. is making my favorite veggie pizza tonight. I wish we could eat and have our wine here:

Spring!

The downfall of spring for me is spring cleaning. For those of you clean freaks, I'm obsessed with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! It cuts the time of cleaning my kitchen in half...seriously. If you're interested, click here to see what to look for at the store.

Yesterday I bailed early on the cleaning festivities and went down to Sonny McLean's in Santa Monica, CA to watch the BU hockey game. I always enjoy hanging out at this little taste of Boston on the West Coast. If you're a Bostonian in LA or if you can't afford the trip to Boston and want to experience the neighborhood Irish bar feel, check it out here.

For those of you living in the Boston area and are into antiques, you should check out Brianne's post from yesterday about a great place to shop in Norwood, MA.

You spin me right round......

So today was the 1st day I could look at the computer screen for more than a couple minutes due to a very random bout of vertigo. (Seriously, how random?!) I couldn't do much besides rest, watch/listen to a little TV, and stare at my ceiling so I noticed my apartment was in dire need of a makeover. Hmmmm....
I would def. add a chandelier like this (Anthropologie).

Although this isn't normally my taste (I must be ready for spring) I wanted to dive right into this bedding (Crate & Barrel).

And I think these curtains would be cute too (Urban Outfitters).

I can't wait for the spinning to stop so I can really look for items for the makeover! :) Does anyone have any ideas for the color scheme (it's a small room)?
