On Date Night, G. and I decided to check out the new LA location of Magnolia Bakery after dinner at Luna Park and before seeing Inception at The Grove. Magnolia Bakery is a famous NYC bakery most noted for its cupcakes and its cameo on Sex and the City. The LA location opened its doors on Saturday, 7/17 on 3rd Street. It's right across the street from Joan's on Third and near the Beverly Center.
Although not pictured, I preferred the chocolate frosting! Cupcakes average at about $3 a piece. Anyone have any other cupcake recommendations?

I heard there are some really awesome cupcakes in the LA area that have an ice cream filling. ICE CREAM! Here's the link: frostedcupcakery.com If you go, please give a full report, though I'll still probably check them out next time I drive up to LA.
I recently went to the Magnolia Bakery in NYC and I have to say, I wasn't wildly impressed. The cake was good, but the icing was really sugary and overwhelmed the cake.
