Spring Fever

Ahhhhhh....spring fever. Butterflies in the stomach, love is in the air, and everything is looking up. (Now if it weren't for those pesky seasonal allergies...)

I received my first postcard from postcrossing today! It arrived from Australia where it is currently autumn, but the postcard definitely screams "spring!"

Right now I'm reading One Fifth Avenue by Candace Bushnell. It's everything you would expect-smart and funny. I'm trying to finish it soon so I don't have to pay any fines to the library.

I like to imagine I'm the girl on the lower-left corner. :)

Yesterday, I found a Border's Express that was closing. I try not to buy too many books, but I went a little crazy at the sale. I figure it's almost time to spend weekends at the beach in SoCal so why not start stocking up on summer reading now? Luckily, I found a plethora of books I've been meaning to read...this is what I ended up purchasing:

I wore my new Stella perfume today. Something about it reminds me of the Barbie perfume I had when I was five or six. :) I find the scent light and youthful. I got this bottle for $48 at Sephora.

Working Girl

Happy Wednesday to all those working girls out there! Only two more days until the weekend!!!! If you are in need of some R&R tonight and you’re sick of TV, I would suggest running to the video store (why wait for Netflix?) and renting Working Girl. I saw the film for the first time recently and it was quickly added to my favorites list. Melanie Griffith was so adorable and Harrison Ford...need I say more? Love it!

Relax and refuel…it’s almost Friday. ;)

The downfall of spring for me is spring cleaning. For those of you clean freaks, I'm obsessed with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! It cuts the time of cleaning my kitchen in half...seriously. If you're interested, click here to see what to look for at the store.

Yesterday I bailed early on the cleaning festivities and went down to Sonny McLean's in Santa Monica, CA to watch the BU hockey game. I always enjoy hanging out at this little taste of Boston on the West Coast. If you're a Bostonian in LA or if you can't afford the trip to Boston and want to experience the neighborhood Irish bar feel, check it out here.

For those of you living in the Boston area and are into antiques, you should check out Brianne's post from yesterday about a great place to shop in Norwood, MA.

It's the best thing to happen to my inbox since DailyCandy. I recently signed up for Salemail. Yes, Salemail. Thanks to Shop It To Me, I now receive e-mail alerts to notify me when my favorite clothes are on sale (in my size!). You simply tell them the stores/designers you want to know about and your sizes and you'll receive a daily or weekly e-mail from them telling you what items go on sale.

One of the items they told me was on sale was this fabulous French Connection dress (marked down to $126 from $168).

Wanna sign up, too? Click here.

P.S. You may recognize the French Connection dress from red carpet photos as Kristin Stewart wore it to promote Twilight...speaking of...Twilight comes out on DVD Saturday! Yes! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Hmmmmmm......this day obviously makes me think of green....which makes me think of emeralds!!! Someday I'd like to splurge on a really fabulous emerald ring like this one from Tiffany & Co. Ahhhh....

But for now, there's always this Kenneth Jay Lane Ring (pic from Macys). :)

Las Vegas

Hello! I just dragged myself in from my trip to Vegas. Although I had been there a few times before I had forgotten two things: 1) it is so easy to be “VIP” if you're a girl. With no effort or connections, I skipped the lines at the clubs and rarely paid for drinks (and no, it wasn't because a guy was buying); 2) always have exact change when taking a cab. The cab drivers often claim they do not have change (even for small bills). Shady....

If you want to avoid taking cabs altogether, there is a shuttle from the airport to the strip for $6. Also, there is a monorail that runs between the different hotels and casinos that is easily navigated. For those of you who haven't been, there is so much more to do than just gamble. New York, New York has a rollercoaster. The Venetian has gondola rides. The MGM Grand has lions (who needs a zoo?). There are a ton of shows and concerts, etc, etc....

This trip I stayed at Paris which is centrally located on the new strip. Over the course of the weekend, I checked out other casinos, toured the shops at The Venetian and Caesar's Palace, laid out by the pool, went to a few clubs, and saw Cirque du Soleil's O (which I highly recommend). Here's the wrap up of this weekend's favorites:

Favorite Shop: Dooney and Bourke at The Venetian. Random, but great layout and so colorful you must pop in...and they're having a sale. To check out online specials, click here.

Favorite Over-the-Top Drink: The Eiffel Tower at Paris. For approx. $15 you get a huge Eiffel Tower-shaped plastic drinking contraption [ :) ] filled with a margarita or a daquiri. You'll see people nursing these all day. I would recommend splitting one.

Favorite Club: The Bank at the Bellagio. Smaller than some of the other clubs, this venue is friendly, has a great DJ, and was just a great time. Try to see if you can get a spot on the walkway on the 2nd floor...great view and more dancing room.

Favorite Song of the Weekend: “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga.

Favorite Casino: Paris-but I'm biased because my sister and I both won $ there!

Favorite Buffet: The Champagne Brunch at the Bellagio. $23 for brunch, $28 for brunch plus champagne. Delicious and fills you for the day (not healthy I know!). Go early, as the line gets looong.

Favorite Sound: The sound of the slot machines....it's the sound that welcomes you as there are slot machines at the airport. And I love it when someone wins and they go crazy.

Favorite Men: Chippendales.

Favorite Ladies: Go-go dancers. How do they dance all night?

and last but not least...well actually....Least Favorite Restaurant: Ah Sin at Paris. I decided to go against my decision to refrain from writing negative things, but I need to warn you all. The service was HORRIBLE from the hostess to the management. It really put a damper on the beginning of the evening.

Other than that, it was a fabulous weekend!!!

Shoe Bags

So I'm tired of packing for work or for a trip and putting my shoes in boring plastic bags. Perhaps I'm a germ-a-phobe, but I can't stand the thought of the bottom of my shoes touching my clothes. :) I'm am going to order myself a shoe bag. Joanna has an adorable one over at philoSophie's.

Isn't it so cute? If you want one as well, here's the link to order.

I'm off to Vegas tomorrow for the weekend!!! I'm sure I'll have a plethora of stories when I get back Sunday. ;) Have a great weekend!

Watchin' 90s Shows

We all have our favorite '90s TV dramas (some well done, some guilty pleasures-but fabulous either way). Mine include, in no particular order: Dawson's Creek, Models, Inc., Felicity, Party of Five, Ally McBeal, My So-Called Life, ER (original cast), Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, and Sisters.

Did anyone watch Significant Others??? I was so psyched to see it out on DVD. I just returned it to Netflix....ahhhh the memories....I had forgotten about my crush on Eion Bailey. :)

Checkin' the mail.....

So....I have been loving getting my mail lately! Every day I have a new surprise. Today, I received a gift from Brianne. Isn't this so cute?! And how thoughtful....

Speaking of mail...I'm going to make sure the good stuff keeps coming! First, I'm going to sign up at Postcrossing. According to their site:
[t]he goal of this project is to allow people to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that: if you send a postcard, you will receive at least one back from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world.-Postcrossing
Bri already received one from a girl in Iceland! I'll let you know if it works out for me.

Second, (thanks to a post by Jessica) I just purchased a one year subscription to Glamour for $1.50! They are having a promotion to celebrate their 70th anniversary (they are charging the same as they did back in 1939). Tell your friends!

You spin me right round......

So today was the 1st day I could look at the computer screen for more than a couple minutes due to a very random bout of vertigo. (Seriously, how random?!) I couldn't do much besides rest, watch/listen to a little TV, and stare at my ceiling so I noticed my apartment was in dire need of a makeover. Hmmmm....
I would def. add a chandelier like this (Anthropologie).

Although this isn't normally my taste (I must be ready for spring) I wanted to dive right into this bedding (Crate & Barrel).

And I think these curtains would be cute too (Urban Outfitters).

I can't wait for the spinning to stop so I can really look for items for the makeover! :) Does anyone have any ideas for the color scheme (it's a small room)?
