Emmys!

Did everyone watch the Emmys last night? I wasn’t really blown away by anyone’s “look”. I did like Lea Michele’s dress though. I’m a sucker for red and I liked the structure of the gown. Gotta love Marchesa!

I was happy to see two of my favorite shows win for best comedy and best drama! Congrats Modern Family and Mad Men!

Now, some people are saying it was the best Emmys ever… What did you think?

Puddle Jumpin'

Happy Friday!!!

On this drizzly morning in Los Angeles, I find myself looking forward to the rainy days and nights come winter when we can cuddle up by the fireplace with a bottle of red wine and my favorite wine glasses.

I now have another reason to look forward to the rainy season...I got these from Gilt yesterday!

I have a thing for bright boots...they definitely add cheer to a dreary day!

(BTW-did you see? Matthew Williamson on Gilt today! I want everything!!!!!!)

L.A. Hair Salon

After years in L.A., many haircuts, and skipping around from stylist to stylist (I always left a little disappointed), I have FINALLY found my “home” salon!

I have been to Jazmine three times now and I have always left 100% happy. Ever since my first visit, I have been meaning to tell you about her! Not only does she do a fantastic job, but she’s fun! So if you’re new to L.A. or looking to switch stylists, I highly recommend her.

If you’re interested, here is her website for further information:

http://www.hotheadspasadena.com

P.S. The salon is moving to a new location within Pasadena in October so if you make an appointment, be sure to get the new address. I can’t wait to see her new space!

This is not a sponsored post.

FNO LA!!!

I had such a great night at Fashion's Night Out in Beverly Hills last Thursday! Aside from the people-watching and champagne, here are some other reasons the night was so fun:

When else can you see a Ferris wheel on Rodeo?

And of course there was dancing at Emporio Armani...

And then there were the food trucks.....

And the Gucci Fiat which I just so happened to purchase... (j/k)

Aaaaannd.....the final stop at Crumbs for assorted cupcakes to bring home to share with boyfriend. (I totally got the "cosmo" cupcake to eat while watching SATC....I know....)

AAANNNNND......the best part of all!!!! I found all the items I wanted from the Banana Republic Mad Men collection--all in my size! Of all the items that I was looking for, the store literally had one of each left and everything happened to fit. I couldn't believe it. You know how some shopping trips leave you skipping out of the store? I was that girl...

Did you go out for FNO in your city? What was your favorite event?

Remembering the Happy

It's been really busy lately and I had forgotten how many fun days I've had in the mix. These are some fun little snapshots I found on my phone spanning from the spring to just yesterday...

Mariachi Bands at Dinner...

Walking by the premiere of Super 8 in Westwood (which finally I saw last night)...

Event at the Mondrian Hotel...

I love when besties come to town! And getting to make new friends!

I HATE when besties have to go back home!

Venice Beach...

Newport Beach...

Happy Hour in Long Beach...

What kind of fun things have you all been up to?!

This is Ladies Day!

Last weekend I had the best "girlie" day! I began with a matinee of Bridesmaids.....

Then went shopping and scored some great deals at LOFT and finally got the glass canisters from Crate&Barrel I've been wanting for the bathroom. Then dinner and a glass (or two) of strawberry Timmermans at Yard House....

and finally a late showing of Something Borrowed.

I REALLY hope they make Something Blue also! (For fellow fans of the books, the movie was pretty true to the book-I was happy with it!)

One Week Ago......

Thursday Evening-Part II

So after the DailyCandy/Fred Segal event last Thursday evening, I went straight home to begin the Royal Wedding festivities. My boyfriend surprised me and bought me some things to have during the wedding coverage: cosmos, English shortbread biscuits, tea, English muffins, and a slice of wedding cake. He wasn’t into it at all, but I thought it was so sweet of him to pick those up for me knowing how much I was looking forward to this! I watched the Lifetime movie, William and Kate, and then watched the pre-wedding and wedding coverage. I fell asleep around 5am and later woke up and watched the post-wedding coverage. (I was extremely addicted by this point.)

I was trying to figure out why I was so fascinated. William and Kate are a charismatic, interesting couple. And Kate’s fashion choices are fun to follow. But I think what struck me was that it was like watching a real-life Disney fairytale. No, their lives aren’t perfect-but that’s the thing. They are real people with such a special, happy day in their lives. Maybe dreams can come true!

Anyways, I will never stay up all night for a TV special again! It totally threw me off and I was exhausted all week!

So back to fashion….I have loved all of Kate’s outfits surrounding the wedding—especially her “going away” dress and jacket below. Sigh......

(Side note: I got this picture from The Possessionista who also lists where Kate's dress came from...if you've never visited the site, it's a great resource to find out more information on clothes you see on TV. I frequent it to find details about items I see on The Bachelorette and Happy Endings.)

Recap of the DailyCandy and Fred Segal Event!

I have finally emerged from my exhausted-royal-wedding-haze only to realize I was supposed to tell you about the DailyCandy and Fred Segal event on Friday!!! Staying up all night to watch the wedding definitely set me behind for the weekend. What night Thursday was though!

It started with the check in process at Fred Segal Santa Monica which was quick and efficient. This is where the fabulous gift bags were handed out, which included items like Kate Somerville eye cream, Murad moisturizer, OPI polish, Stila eyeshadow, Smashbox blush and more! Next my friend and I stopped by the Stila area for a quick makeover and then we went to get our nails done by OPI with champagne in hand.

I'm glad I went with green because it looked great with the dress I wore over the weekend!

While walking around Fred Segal, I took note of at least 100 items I'd love to add to my closet. One item we were both intrigued by is this wrinkle prevention pillow....

We had such a great time and I noticed that all the other women in attendance (even the guys!) were having fun also. I'm looking forward to see what kind of specials DailyCandyDeals will be sending us subscribers!

For my gals who want to really treat themselves, they are also offering a $1500 gift certificate for $1000. I can feel my AMEX burning a hole in my Chloe!

Easter Bread

Happy Easter!!!!!

I went to brunch at Taste on Melrose and came home to this Easter bread that I made last night using this recipe.

The recipe doesn't call for anisette, but I added some before baking and I loved the added flavor!

I would recommend watching the baking time because I baked it for less time then instructed and it was a little dry.

This was my first time making bread from scratch so it didn't come out perfectly, but I'm happy with it as a first attempt!

Mail Check!

I love getting the Urban Outfitters catalogs in the mail. I spotted a few looks I def. want to do this summer.

I love this breezy, nautical number:

I could definitely hang out at a beach party in this:

And this is perfect for that ride on the yacht this summer (hopefully!):

Pandora's Box

Like the evils released from Pandora's box, the Pandora bracelet trend seems sweeping and unstoppable....but that's not a bad thing...because it's jewelry of course!

However, I have yet to get on the Pandora bracelet bandwagon. I don’t know….it’s just not my thing...or it wasn't until.....I discovered their stackable rings! I don’t usually post a picture of an ad from a magazine, but I thought they looked beautiful here.

I really like the way they have the rings in the picture below:

I might have to start collecting these...

Visiting Hours

Last weekend, I stopped by the mall to make a return (fell off the shopping wagon…again). While I was there, I decided to visit some items on my “want” list. I find that just looking at or holding items I’m lusting after can bring some satisfaction even if I’m not buying them. Strange, yes? But it works! One rule is I don’t try anything on I know I’m not going to buy. I don’t like wasting the store’s resources or the staff’s time.

These are some of the items I "visited":

Michael Kors Watch ($154 on amazon!)

Oops…..while I was looking for a photo of the watch above, I fell for this one, too! I have problems…

Michael Kors Watch ($128.88 on amazon)

Dress at Banana Republic

($140)

Royal Albert Tea Set at Macy's

(prices vary)

Marc by Marc Jacobs Bag at Bloomingdale's

($468)

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish $22.50

(I heard this lip polish is fantastic, but my current budget is encouraging me to find DIY beauty methods. I made a great lip scrub at home which I'll share with you in an upcoming post!)

What is currently on your "want" list?

Hiatus is Over!

So Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill have returned from a hiatus….and so have I! It’s been a crazy time, but I’m back now. Here’s what I’ve been up to if you missed me!

I got to take a few days away from work and physical therapy appointments to go to Cape Cod, MA for Brianne’s Wedding!
(I was the Maid of Honor and I got to help design my dress!)

I saw an excellent production of Othello at the Powerhouse Theatre in Santa Monica, CA.

My local Border’s closed (sad face). However, I did stock up on some summer reading at 70% off. I need a break from library books. (Side-note: One book I didn’t get, but will be a must-read this summer is the new Sweet Valley High! I owe it to the 11 yr old me to see what happened to Jessica and Elizabeth!)

...And finally catching up on the fourth season of Mad Men!
