Snooze Button

I'm recently recovering from a bout of insomnia. I went weeks without sleep and now ALL I want to do is cuddle up and dream away. My bed needs some sprucing up to become the sanctuary I'd like it to be.

I think I'll start off with one of these fluffy mattress pads:

Mattress Pad: JCPenney

And then choose one of these beautiful comforters/duvets:

Damask Shadow Duvet Cover-Anthropologie

Love Letters Duvet Cover-Anthropologie

Kas Tjandra Comforter-Bed,Bath, and Beyond

Pixelated Petals Duvet Cover-Anthropologie

And for the final touch hang some of these lanterns in a coordinating color for a soft, relaxing glow:

Fashion's Night Out!

I was so exited to go to Fashion's Night Out in NYC this year!!! It was a little chaotic trying to go everywhere. I ended up at Macy's, Furla (loved the Wizard of Oz theme!), and Barneys. There were about 8 others I REALLY wanted to get to, but was unable to with the lack of cabs and the short length of time we had to work with.

I also had the chance to stop by the Renegade Style Blogger Meet Up in Central Park on Friday. Everyone was really sweet!

P.S. I was TOTALLY inspired this weekend. I will be sharing some of my favorite looks with you this week.

The Magic Jean

Sorry for the hiatus! I hope everyone had a fabulous Labor Day weekend-I know I did! It had a little bit of everything: shopping, good food, grilling, friends, family, boyfriend, pool, beach, music, magazines, and drinks. But tomorrow...back to reality. I DO have some good news to perk you up on this first day back to work: the magic jean.

I found this pair of skinny jeans over the weekend at Forever 21 for $14.50. I was a little hesitant to try jeans at that price point as I assumed they could not be flattering on anyone but a pre-teen. I was so WRONG. They were very flattering and the perfect fit, even length-wise (I'm about 5'8"). I recommended them to a friend today who was also hesitant, but loved them as well. Two very happy girls snagging a great pair of jeans for about $15 with taxes!

The Final Rose

Ali gave out her final rose tonight...

and I got a dozen!

G. can't stand the show, but how sweet of him to get me these to celebrate the finale I had been looking forward to! I was so touched I cried...and then I cried during the episode, too. Love it!

The Bag I Stalked

Happy Sunday!

I recently tweeted about stalking a handbag. I was walking to work and the sun shone on this gorgeous bag! I was so captivated that I started following it in a trance (like a psycho!). I almost walked right by my building. Well, here she is:

Sweating with Richard Simmons

Last night I had SO much fun. Today, I am SO sore. Guess what I did!

I took an aerobics class with Richard Simmons at his studio in Beverly Hills!

The Slimmons website sums it all up best here.

I did not take any pictures this time, but I will post some in the future. I left feeling energized and highly motivated. I go to the gym regularly and this was one of the best workouts I've ever had (physically and mentally). And it helps that the music was great, too.

I highly recommend it. If you go, be sure to bring a large towel, plenty of water, and a smile!

Magnolia Bakery

On Date Night, G. and I decided to check out the new LA location of Magnolia Bakery after dinner at Luna Park and before seeing Inception at The Grove. Magnolia Bakery is a famous NYC bakery most noted for its cupcakes and its cameo on Sex and the City. The LA location opened its doors on Saturday, 7/17 on 3rd Street. It's right across the street from Joan's on Third and near the Beverly Center.

Although not pictured, I preferred the chocolate frosting! Cupcakes average at about $3 a piece. Anyone have any other cupcake recommendations?

How to be a Chic Bookworm & Another BFF!

Okay my fellow book-lovers!!!!

I've been meaning to share this for awhile...and if you haven't seen it yet, brace yourself because you will LOVE the latest from Kate Spade!

Drumroll please..............

The Book of the Month Clutch!

Yes, this is actually a purse.
K.S. has a few others, such as, Great Expectations and The Importance of Being Earnest; but, The Great Gatsby is my favorite.

This brings me to this week's BFF, or Budget-Friendly Fun. The library. I know...you're thinking: "fun?!" People tend to forget about the library as a resource for the latest magazines, movies, and CDs in addition to books. Think of all you would save on entertainment with your FREE library card. Even if you're late, the fines are a fraction of what you'd spend buying media-related items. You can also usually browse your local library system's catalog online. Save money on your summer reading so you can spend your cash on more important things--like The Book of the Month Clutch! :)

The Book of the Month Clutch ($325) available here.

Update: Sugar

Ladies (and gentlemen)!

For those of you who also loved the Tiffany rings I posted about here, Bluefly is having a sale on them.

I will not be buying one as I think I might have to get a new car. :( Let's just say having your car die on a freeway off-ramp is NOT good times.

My New Favorite

I picked this up at the Express sale the other day. It is SO comfortable and surprisingly flattering. (I wasn't sure how a romper would look on me.)

Express had a ton of cute stuff on sale though so if you need some additional summer clothes, definitely check it out. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend!

DIY Revealed!

I have been in need of a dining room set, but I didn't feel like dropping hundreds of dollars at my favorite furniture store. Enter Craigslist. I found this set for $60, but it needed work.

The new set I originally wanted was black and distressed. I thought I could accomplish a similar look myself. (With G's help of course!) :)

After we picked up the set from the original owner, we washed and lightly sanded it. Next, we painted the set with a few coats of high-gloss black paint. To help create the "distressed look" we did not use a primer and allowed the brush strokes to leave some wood showing in places.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out!

Did I Tell You Who I Saw?

Remember this post?

I met Tamara Feldman briefly last week. I actually told her I was obsessed with her hair. hahaha

The Andaz West Hollywood

Last weekend I hung out at the recently renovated Andaz in West Hollywood and fell in love... with the hotel.

It's proximity to great nightlife can't be matched.

The rooftop pool offers amazing views of the city and the living rooms of Hollywood Hills residents. ;)

The service was excellent as well. I went to one of the happy hours at RH bar and tried their drink special. Delicious. I know it had blueberry vodka in it, but now I wish I had asked the bartender for the recipe. Sigh... I guess I'll just have to go back.

So if you're coming to LA to visit and want to stay somewhere fun or if you're local and looking for a new place to check out, I highly recommend the Andaz!

I Like to Ride My Bike...

Well, I actually don't have a bike, but after the amazing weather this weekend I wish did. I'm intrigued by the Urban Outfitters Bike Shop. It would be so fun to "build" my own custom bike! For $399, this is the bicycle I would purchase.

What kind would you get?

Afternoon Tea in Beverly Hills

On Friday afternoon my friend, Jennifer, and I made our way to the Montage in Beverly Hills for afternoon tea in the Lobby Lounge. We settled in to a very comfortable couch and admired the beautiful china and place settings before us. The harpist was an excellent addition to the elegant, yet relaxing atmosphere.

We chatted and enjoyed our individual pots of tea. I chose the Montage's caffeine-free signature blend which was sweet and delicious. Jennifer quite enjoyed her white tea as well. The multi-tiered selection of tea sandwiches, scones, and desserts was excellent. Lisa was our hostess for the duration of the tea and she was a doll.

Everything from the atmosphere, service, and food was exquisite. I'll definitely be back!
